LOCKHEED MARTIN SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETES DECISION SUPPORT PROGRAM FOR MILITARY AIR OPERATIONS CENTERS

CHERRY HILL, NJ, July 27, 2009—Lockheed Martin [NYSE:LMT] Advanced Technology Laboratories (ATL) concluded its Joint Air/Ground Operations: Unified, Adaptive Replanning (JAGUAR) program with a successful final test and evaluation at the Distributed Mission Operations Center at Kirtland Air Force Base, Albuquerque, N.M.

The event showcased JAGUAR's ability to significantly enhance an U.S. Air Force Air Operations Center's (AOC) capability to monitor the execution of battle plans and dynamically replan against execution-time events, while also reducing manpower requirements. JAGUAR automatically tracked more than 300 concurrent interdependent missions during the final test.

JAGUAR provides decision support for AOCs through an automated system that monitors the complex battlespace, directs warfighter attention to concerning situations, and enables more informed decisions when battle plans require modification. JAGUAR uses model-driven anomaly detection and impact assessment to automatically notify operators of significant divergences in plan execution and the scope of repair needed to deal with them.

"JAGUAR's capability to continuously manage the execution of plans lets operators, for the first time, put together plan revisions and repairs into ongoing operations while automatically updating monitoring and assessment behaviors," said John McCormick, ATL JAGUAR program manager.

The core of JAGUAR's decision support capability is the Plan Understanding and Monitoring Associate, a suite of automated software tools developed by ATL to help AOC operators deal with the crush of battlespace information and to better assess plans earlier in their execution.

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency awarded the $8 million contract for the JAGUAR program in 2004. ATL led a team that included Lockheed Martin Information Systems & Global Services and Intelligent Software Solutions. The team is currently working to transition JAGUAR technology throughout the Department of Defense and Lockheed Martin.

Headquartered in Bethesda, Md., Lockheed Martin is a global security company that employs about 146,000 people worldwide and is principally engaged in the research, design, development, manufacture, integration and sustainment of advanced technology systems, products and services. The corporation reported 2008 sales of $42.7 billion.
